On occasion Hedgerow Farms employees can do on-site consultations. This service does require an hourly fee, including drive time to and from the site. Please contact us for more information.

Contract Growing
If you have wild collected seed but need more for your project, we can increase your seed on our farm. Depending on how much seed you will need, we can plant out small or large plots for increase.
Charges depend on whether we plant our field directly with seed or with plugs, and what size field you need. Remember that we plant the fields in fall and harvest in spring and early summer so plan
ahead. For more information, contact us.
If you need a large quantity of plugs or you need a species we do not usually stock in plugs, we can contract grow plugs for you using seed you provide or using our own seed. Availability of space in the nursery changes whether or not we are able to do contract plug grow outs.

Custom Seed Cleaning
With our expanded seed cleaning operation, Hedgerow Farms now offers custom seed cleaning.
Whether it's grass seed, flower seed, or grain, 1 to 10,000 pounds, Hedgerow Farms has the tools and experience to get the job done. Our seed cleaning facility boasts a variety of machines including: screen cleaners, air cleaners, indent cylinders, de-awners, gravity separators, and brush cleaners. Custom seed cleaning jobs are charged an hourly fee, depending on the machines required and
complexity of the cleaning. For more information on custom seed cleaning, please contact us.
Seed Mixing and Treatment
We offer custom seed mixes at no charge. For more information, see the Seed page. We offer seed treatments including fungicide and mycorrhizae.
- Fungicide: Many grass species can be subject to fungal pathogens. Meadow barleys in particular can be infected with smut. Seedling damp off from the soil borne fungus Pithium can also occur especially in cold damp conditions in late December and early January. Treating seed before planting can prevent these diseases. We have the capability to pre-treat the seed with appropriate fungicide. Contact us for more information about the specific treatments we can use and pricing.
- Mycorrhizae: Some project sites with very low nutrient levels may benefit from the addition of mycorrhizae. Mycorrhizae form a symbiotic relationship with plant roots to increase root surface area and increase nutrient uptake. We can inoculate our seed with the mycorrhizal inoculant appropriate for your species or species mix. Contact us for more information.

Rental Equipment
Hedgerow Farms rents Truax Flex-II seed drills and other project installation tools.
Truax drills are designed for use with fluffy native grass seed. In standard seeding equipment, the long awns of native grass seeds frequently cause bridging or clogging. All of our drills have no-till capability. The client is responsible for drill transportation and we limit the distance traveled to an approximate 50-mile radius from Hedgerow Farms. Our drills are rented on a per-acre basis. For more information on Truax drills, please visit their website. For more information on renting our drill, please contact us.
We also rent:
- Large chain harrow (for use with the drill)
- Truax belly grinder broadcast seeder
- Truax atv mount broadcast seeder
- Truax atv trailer broadcast seeder, little harrow included

Seed Packets
If you would like custom seed packets to give out at your wedding or other special event, we can create them for you. We can do some or all of the following:
- Assist you in choosing single species or create a seed mix for your packets
- Create a custom label
- Fill packets and affix labels
This service is only available from December through July. Please contact us for more information.
